With driver and passenger front and side airbags fitted as standard on all models, the new
Octavia has safety at its core. Thanks to generous mix of passive and active safety features,
occupants enjoy exceptional levels of protection should the worst happen.
All new Octavias are fitted with driver and passenger front and side airbags as standard.
The front passenger airbag can be deactivated if a child seat is fastened to the front passenger
seat. Curtain airbags, which are available as an option (standard on L&K), provide a safety
curtain between the occupants and the side windows along the length of the passenger compartment.
Pre-tensioners are also added to the outer rear seats if the car is supplied with the optional curtain airbags.
Another feature of the new Octavia are improved xenon headlights. Standard on Laurin & Klement,
and optional on all but S models, the Octavia's xenon headlights increase brightness up to 2.5 times
more than halogen headlights while using 35% less energy. In addition, the AFS (adaptive front-light
system) is an automated headlight safety function, which changes the geometry of the light beam
according to different driving circumstances.
To ensure that the new Octavia protects its occupants in a rear impact, all models are fitted
with WOKS front headrests. These have been developed with a new shape which helps to protect the
front occupants' spines by minimising the effects of whiplash in the event of an accident.
